Do we value plants for what they do or for what they look like?

Landscapes are not only designed to be pretty and compliment your home, they also can be designed in a way to attract native insects and other animals. If you love being outside and like seeing butterflies and certain birds around your landscape, install plants that these animals are attracted to. These plants/trees provide food, shelter and help with reproduction for many insects and animals. They are dependent upon one another for survival.

About the Author

Kristi learned quite a bit about gardening and plants from her father and grandmother in her early childhood years. Once she set off to college to get a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University, she bought her first plant, a small ficus tree, which she religiously cared for and by the time she left college the tree was over 6 feet tall and full with plenty of branches. From then on, Kristi developed a green thumb and set her eyes on gardening has a hobby and ventured into growing many house plants, vegetable gardens and outdoor plants. Using her creative side (graphic design) experience, this hobby turned into a business where she develops landscape designs for clients. Kristi loves to study about plants and researches them all the time to find out more about them.
